I “Heart” NY!!
Several months ago, I signed up online for a trustedtours.com newsletter. I am a planner when it comes to vacations. I want to make sure I have found every discount and the lowest prices possible. This summer we were looking at heading to Sturgis, ND for Biker Week! My husband was going to cook and the kids and I were going to stay at the ranch and ride ATV’s all day and sit around a campfire by night…HEAVEN! On the way home we were going to hit Mount Rushmore, which is kind of cool in and of itself. However, my husband now has to work during Biker Week, and it doesn’t seem cool to drive 1000 miles for one mountain. So I remembered back to my childhood and found the coolest vacation for us.
We had started in Pennsylvania and drove through Amish country. Very interesting for a young ‘tween, but I would be excited to see it again as a grown up. Then we headed south for some Washington dc sightseeing. After a day or two we headed back up to Philly and saw the sights there as well as the coolest stop…Hershey’s. Oh that place was cool! Free chocolate samples and a roller coaster. I bought one of my most treasured sweatshirts there. Then we headed north to New York and even into Canada to see Niagra Falls. It was amazing, and even 24 years later, I still remember so many parts of that trip. I want that for my kids! So that is my plan this summer.
There are so many things to do in New York that that is my one dream spot. I know my kids would love to see the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building and Philadelphia is only 666 miles from Chicago. I’ll need to check out a few online travel guides before we leave, but I truly think this will be a trip of a lifetime! I just wish I could sign up for the TrustedTours.com newsletter again…because anyone who signs up is entered into a drawing for a free GPS system…and since we will be driving on this vacation, it would totally come in handy!
